Nick Raynsford

Nick Raynsford was the Member of Parliament for Greenwich and Woolwich from 1997-2015 and previously for Greenwich 1992-1997. Nick served as a Government Minister from 1997 initially in the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) as well as being Minister for London.

During his time as a Government minister between 1997 and 2005, Nick held responsibility for Housing, Planning and Construction and was responsible for the commissioning and implementation of the Egan Report ‘Rethinking Construction’ and the Decent Homes Standard. Nick was made a Privy Councillor in the 2001 New Year’s Honours.

Nick has long been a keen supporter of Constructionarium and the way it brings together the theory and reality of construction and helps to attract, inspire and retain young people into the industry. In 2008 Nick took on the role of President of Constructionarium before joining the Board as a Director in 2017

Nick Raynsford is currently President of the Town and Country Planning Association and Chairman of the NHBC Foundation, the Tideway Reporting Group, CICAIR Ltd and Heylo Housing RP. He is Honorary Vice-Chairman of the Construction Industry Council. He is a Strategic Adviser to Crossrail Ltd, and a Director of Pocket Living.

He is an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Royal Town Planning Institute, the Royal Institute for British Architects, the Institute of Structural Engineers, the Association of Building Engineers and the Society for the Environment. He is an Hon Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and the Chartered Institute of Housing.
